Crystal Geyser
38 degrees 56' 18.69" N,  110 degrees 08' 07.47" W

Crystal geyser is located in Utah on the east bank of the Green river . It’s a rare example of a cold water carbon dioxide geyser. The ground near the geyser has a significant amount of dissolved carbon dioxide. The area surrounding the Crystal geyser is covered in a thick layer of orange travertine. The saturation of the aquifer with carbon dioxide creates enough pressure to force ground water through the geyser and out to the surface. It’s Like a soda bottle you shake it enough that the carbonation builds up and when you open it. 

Crystal geyser was created when  a petroleum exploration bore hole was drilled at the site 1935.  Gas-bearing formations were encountered in the drilling process. The eruption mechanism is not fully understood but is probably related to Carbon Dioxide gas being released from formations downhole. Crystal geyser erupts to a height of 40 meters or more. It  erupts an average of 100 minutes a day, with eruptions lasting 7 to 113 minutes.. The current form of the geyser was created by a drill for attempt to look for oil in 1935.
